An Engineering Expedition
09 June 2011Murray Now partnered with NSW Department of Trade and Investment and The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) to showcase our region at the National Manufacturing Week (NMW) for 2011. The Murray Now stand looked exciting and appealing. With over 13,000 Australian and international attendees attending the event over four days it was a fantastic opportunity to increase brand awareness and source leads for the Murray region.

Peter Whitehead, Assistant Regional Director South West Region for Department of Trade and Investment added, “NMW certainly was a fantastic initiative by Murray Now.”
“I found that the first day was impressive with the different types of manufacturing represented. We found that the activity peaked on Thursday, where we gained many solid leads for investment. There were also a number of trade skilled people enquiring about employment in the region, which is a healthy indicator.“
The Murray Now stand was positioned in the Engineering Zone. This zone consisted of manufacturing equipment, services and supply sectors and showcased products and services of interest to a broad cross section of engineering disciplines and most importantly a marketing platform for companies, such as Murray Now, looking to reach the wider interest of the manufacturing community. NMW is held alternately between Melbourne and Sydney, and there was an increase of over 25% in 2011 in Melbourne. This year NMW partnered with Austech & Ausplas which gave greater exhibitor outcomes.
Barbara McDonald from Ai Group was at the show for the first time and found it both interesting and valuable for her business. “The Ai Group is an industry association which represents a range of sectors including manufacturing and engineering, and employs more than 300 staff and 550 apprentices and trainees through its training arm, Australian Industry Group Training Services. I talked to many apprentices throughout the show informing them about the Murray region.” she added.

Murray Now talked to many businesses and people during the week and all new contacts will be put into our database to follow up. It is through these marketing activities that the Murray Now brand will gain recognition as the peak regional cross border organisation dedicated to the economic growth and development for the whole Murray region.
