09 April 2010

Issue03-2010-05

Chartered Accountants and business advisory firm Johnsons MME has announced that it has partnered with a carbon management company to be able to provide a comprehensive range of carbon and energy management services to businesses in the region.

Johnsons MME is the first regional accounting practice to have formed an alliance with leading carbon management firm, Carbon Planet which will lead discussions at an upcoming carbon management information session to be conducted in Albury on 13th April.

A representative from Albury based newsprint mill, Norske Skog will also discuss how they have implemented water savings and energy reduction processes in their organisation at this session.

Johnsons MME Partner, Rod Mullavey says the information session is designed to help inform businesses on a range of energy management issues.

“It doesn’t matter what side of the climate debate you sit, nor is it important what political side you sit,” Mr Mullavey said.

“We say, what is important is the impact on your business of what is being done in relation to energy management. Already, energy costs have risen and into the future energy costs for business are predicted to rise significantly.

“Energy costs are no different to any other cost that you manage in business and we are looking at how you can do that. It’s about financial outcomes for business, not political outcomes or different philosophies,” he said.

Johnsons MME has taken a pro-active approach to offering carbon and energy management services, with staff completing carbon accounting courses and gaining specialist training with Carbon Planet.

The two hour session, commencing at 6pm, is designed to get local businesses thinking about the issues that are likely to have an impact on their financial bottom line.

“We hope businesses will gain a general understanding of carbon and energy management issues and an appreciation, because of Johnsons MME’s partnering with Carbon Planet, of the level of both scientific and financial advice that is on offer at a regional level that hasn’t been available from a regional accounting practice before,” Mr Mullavey said.
