Albury Racing Club
The Albury Racing Club, established in 1881, conducts 17 thoroughbred race meetings each season with the highlight being the award winning Commercial Club Albury Gold Cup Carnival – Thursday 24 and Friday 25 March 2011.
Winner of the prestigious Racing NSW award for the ‘Most Popular Country Feature Race meeting’ in 2009, 2008, 2006, 2004 and 2003, the Albury Gold Cup is recognised as an icon event for the fast developing city of Albury.
The event benefits from a half-day holiday in Albury that has seen attendances grow to a record 20,117 in 2008 and become the city’s biggest social event of the year.
The Gold Cup, run over 2000m at quality handicap conditions and worth $170,000 in 2011, has developed over the years to now be recognised as one of the feature country races on the Australian Turf Calendar.
The club hosts a multitude of corporate events each year and with the large spacious grounds, variety of function areas and recent renovations to facilities, the club is clearly established as one of the leading multi-purpose venues in country NSW. Conference organisers have the opportunity to co-ordinate their event around one of the popular race meetings. Rooms are available to conduct conference activities in the morning with lunch and racing action in the afternoon.
Facilities include: • Members’ Lounge – Premier function room with floor to ceiling windows and spectacular views over the course. • Corporate Box – Smaller venue ideal for a race-day conference event. • The Pavilion – Large outdoor undercover area that can be transformed into a special themed area for a banquet or cocktail event. Also ideal for trade show type events. • The Deck – Perfect outdoor setting for banquet or cocktail events. Can be used as a pre or post function area.
